99% sure our hoods are PART fiberglass and part steel...? I thought that was the reason for the recall, the fiberglass and steel separating?

thats real nice, i always wanted to do that. but was afriad of faulty products.. they look top notch.

Aaron i have a stupid question. on your install you have the thicker part of the shock on the top part with the thinner part mounted to the car. on some of the pictures, on their website they have it the other way, and others the way you have it. do the instructions have a specific way of installing them?

thanks
joe

The stock hood is (typically) all fiberglass, I've seen them all smashed up. If you want proof, take a magnet to it. BUT it doesn't mean they may not have had a run of steel ones as well. I actually think I may have seen some steel ones for sale somewhere at some point in time.

The issue with the recall is that the hood is two parts: the structural support and the outer skin which is glued to it separately and it's only glued at the edges of the hood. When you take your hood in for the recall, they cut two oval shaped holes underneath the hood and inject glue between the skin and the underside.

Not a stupid question at all Joe....on the instructional pictures, that's the way they're mounted....so that's the way we went....I think most struts work the same way, i think the other way would look strange...

94gts - I haven't noticed ANY difference in the color of my hood...I took it off because it was looking ratty over time, I just wish the paint was glossier on the underside of the hood.

here's the pics i've been meaning to post for Matt and a few others who wanted to see the exact mounting points....might be blurry, i suck at teh pictures

You have to buy a riveter. The install instructions give you suggestions for which one they think you should get (a Craftsmen ~ $20), but I just got Craftsmens standard $10 one.

hey i just put those on my car, well the guys from redline did as i was in their booth at ford carlilse. they went right on and work great. i have a cervinis hood and it fit up nice to hold the hood half way they reccomend you put a small rubber hose on it so it doesn't fall down, i hung out with the guys from redline tuning and they are great almost all of my club members that were at the show ended up buying the lifters by the end of the weekend .they are a great product if you go to thier webisite you will see a pic of my car on the home page , www.redlinetuning.com

Troy, you have a Cervini's Cobra R, correct?

If so, that's what I have as well. I'd really like to get these.
