I have a bone stock '02 GT auto conv. I had a nice open stretch on I-95 today with very few cars so I decided to see how far I could push it. I've hit 140 mph a couple of times before but I wanted to see if I could keep going. When I reached I'd say 141-142 mph she just wouldn't accelerate any more but I still had some more rpm left. I'm wondering is it because of the drag of the rag top, me needing more power or what?? I'm thinking I just need a little more power like with intake/exhaust/tune and I can go a little faster. What do yall think?? Please spare me the speeding is dangerous speech!!

P.S. At the end of the day going 140+ with a 260 hp auto conv. is not bad to me. I'm proud of my baby!!

Most likely its your governor ALso, i hope you don't hurt yourself or anyone else. Can't say you're stupid because ive done it, just be ready for the consequences and only do it in the right area/conditions as to not endanger anyone else

Sorry for being way I am, but your(or anyone else who drives that fast) fool for driving on public highway at that speed...

if you wanna risk your life, do it in suchway that does not include 3000lb+ moving object.

I was dumb like that when i was young. But none of my cars that I'v had in the past was capable of going past 90mph...
Since my friend died in devestating crash in his 5.0(and he took out pickup truck while at it), i can honestly tell you that i have not gone past 85mph(because my Geo top out at 85mph lol), and you shouldn't either, unless its in controled condition.

but otherwise, ya i think thats pretty fast for vert. provided that your speedo is accurate that far up on speed

I did about the same in my 01 coupe when stock. 140+ is pretty fast, although I have to say the car seemed pretty unstable at that point.

Who said I had the top down?? I didn't have the top down and there was plenty of open space with very few cars when I did it. It wasn't like I was switching lanes and avoiding them!!

A friend told me it was because the computer has the rpm limit in OD set at around 4000+ rpms thus not allowing me to go faster. With a hypertech tuner I can have the rpm limit set to 5200 rpms. I'm wondering do I have enough power to reach 150+ or do I need minor bolts-on?? Btw I have 17's. Also my car was smooth as hell at 141-142 mph.
