pretty popular scams are based around stealing pics and stuff- making a phony ad, and telling people the car is overseas and they will ship it to ya. Could it be? Or maybe someone was too lazy to take a pic of their car that happens to look identical? Less likely though

It was probably a scammer, Did you have the pic online? How about the mods? Through the my garage, or car web page thingy?
