ok my car is hurting my head with its gremlins. I changed out my gauge cluster the other day to back to stock, After I had put the dash back together the Speedo would not work all the time, then it stared to work and the odometer and trip odo and Tachometer stopped working. I took out the cluster again and checked all of the connections on the back and everything looked fine so I reinstalled in the dash. Well nest the Gas gauge would not work right (that is not really a prob since I use it for a reference point only). Than it unexpicantly stared to work again along with the Tach and both odometers. The next day on my way back from work (it drove fine on the way to work) the dash lighting was going in and out then it would not drop the idle below 2k and I got a check engine light, so I parked it and got out to check if something was wrong that I could tell from a quick look. I did not see anything out of place or hanging so I closed everything up and let it cool down. The next day it threw the check light again and then my dash started to systematically shut down on me. First were the gauges then the radio (it was not storing radio stations and would not play half of the signal) then my ABS light came on. Well by the time I got to work the entire electrical system was going haywire....I could hardly roll up the windows I could not move the mirrors and the voltage on my Battery was 11.65-11.75. It then started to beep sfotly at me for like 5 mins. When I parked my car at work it smelled like I was burning rubber again so I checked to see if the alternator had seized up but it was fine (as far as I could tell). Then I tried to turn over the engine and it would not start like my battery was dead. I am at whit’s end with this car and about to drive it off a cliff......PLEASE HELP. I do not know what it wrong. I also get a whine when I put any amount of pressure on the clutch pedal.

I'm by no means the pro 'round here, but since noone else has replied (and you're probably checking for posts on your thread from work like everyone else) I'll see if I can help at all.

If the whine is a whirring, or a really high pitched noise, 9 times out of 10 it's your throwout bearing. Check and see if you can start it,stop it, quiet or make it louder with pedal action. This might make it a good time to order a new clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, and maybe even a flywheel. Ask anyone, even if the stuff's not bad, it'd behoove you to get it all done once if your budget's allowing while you have it pulled apart to do the throwout bearing.

As for the actual reason for the thread; DAMN dude. I'm sorry. I feel better about all my car's little issues. Thank you for that. I needed it.

Things start to shut down when the battery does not have enought juice. A few weeks ago my alt charging wire broke and my batter ran down to nothing, my tac and speedo started to freak out, my raio turned off, and things went nuts then the car died and would not start cause the battery did not have enough juice. You have a charging problem.

This is probably way off, but when I changed the gauge faces in my foxbody, I broke the wire that goes to the battery light in the dash, which caused my alternator not to charge. That took me 3 days and 3 batteries to figure out. probably not related your problem but still amusing. good luck

No Rice is hitting it on the head possibly. The switch and sense wire is routed to the gauge and idiot light. Without it being connected, the alt wont charge.

Good luck.

They wires will look similar to this, just trace it back to the battery light bulb.

they are easy to tear if you are not careful

Ok Well I changed the Alternator and checked the battery, and both are good now but it will not hold a charge. SO I checked the wiring from the alternator to the fuse box and to the battery. All of the wires are ok, so next I checked the power regulators on the Alternator I unplugged them and tried it and it was no different. So now I am at a loss, I have no other ideas on what it could be. I also checked all of the fuses and they are all good. Please I need some major help here I am going insane and about to just junk the danm car and buy an import. j/k but maybe an '06 GT
