Ok let me give you the background story so ya understand. I went to pick up my car a week ago, and about half way home after filling up at a gas station my car would not start, It would kick and want to start a couple of times but after a few tries it would just turn over without any kicking...We called the previous owner back and after a few times talking with him we decided it was the fuel pump. Whenever I turned the key to on, I couldnt hear the fuel pump whine so it wasnt sending fuel up to the injectors. We were lucky enough to have a fuel pump out of a '94 cobra which the previous owner gave us before we left so we ended up dropping the gas tank and switching pumps. When we got it all back together, it still wouldnt start, my dad ended up messing with some wires under the carpet in the hatch and miraculously the car fired right up.
So now that were back home, whenever driving around town it still has the same problem. I would usually just wait it out and with time it usually started, but then I had a friend tell me the reason Im not hearing the fuel pump whine sometimes is because my ignition switch is going out. He said he had the same problem in his jeep so he straight wired it. So now whenever my car acted up I would flip the switch back and forth to the "ON" position until I heard the fuel pump whine. And it worked.
As of last night, I was cruising the local strip and stop to get gas and of course it wouldnt fire when I went to start it, so I kept flipping the key off and on trying to listen for the pump, but I heard nothing, So basically I was there for a couple of hours (and still messing with it the whole time) until I found some friends of mine to give me a tow home.
So could it be that my ignition switch was faulty and just at that moment at the gas station it decided to give up the ghost???? If you dont think thats what it is, give me more ideas.. Thanks
