Does the car still start up OK? PATS module maybe going south?
Is the "theft" light blinking?

thats weird, maybe a sensor is bad, or maybe your car just misses you

Is your key fob anywhere near the car(close enough to trigger it) when the alarm goes off? If so your key fob may be bad? I dunno...maybe try reprogramming the key fob might help?

Do you press the lock button twice to make the horn honk when you lock the doors?

I think the 99+'s work differently, because I know if I arm mine and reach through an open window to open it by pulling the handle from the outside, the alarm will go off...but a guy I know with a 99 GT vert can reach in with it armed and the top down and the alarm won't go off...

i feal your pain. my 98 cobra has gone off on me twice while driving down the road. i have got some loose wires some where or something because i had to unplug my trunk because it was poping the trunk constantly as i was going down the road. so now i can't lock my car because i am afraid the alarm will go off and i won't be able to turn it off and i can't open my trunk wth out the key. it sucks . good luck.

Well, I don't know whats wrong with the alarm, but 98svtcovert reminded me about this car I would sometimes park next to at school. Whenever I unlocked my doors it would pop its trunk. I just got where I would know it was going to happen and close it for them.
