do they sell a better quality oil dipstick for our cars. the factory one is such a pile of crap. it is so flimsy and does'nt want to go back in half the time. does anybody use anything else with less hassles?

It has a yellow handle though and is good for at least 10 HP.

It must be smartass day on Stangnet.

Here is an option. I haven't used one personally, but some people like them.

Summit has them:

You can get a flexible one made by Lokar at Summit racing. They are 42 bucks. Here's a pic.

Gentlemen, there is nothing more embarrasing than a flimsy dipstick.

Just feed it in a little at a time by holding it near the opening of the tube. Also jiggle it up and down a little if necessary. Remember, it needs to twist as it goes in.

At www.nhtsa.gov you can file a consumer complaint about a vehicle. You can also look up complaints that were filed by others. Check out this dipstick complaint, what a dipstick:

AT 7,853 MILES, THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE. UPON CHECKING THE DIP STICK, THE STOCK WAS TWISTED OUT OF SHAPE, GIVING A READING OF MORE OIL THAN NEEDED. THE FIRST SERVICE CENTER THAT I TOOK THE CAR TO STATED THAT THE CAR HAD 1 QUART OF OIL, AND COULD BURN 1 QUART OF OIL PER 1,000 MILES WHEN NEW (NOWHERE WAS THIS NOTED IN OWNER'S MANUAL, WHICH RECOMMENDS OIL CHANGES EVERY 5,000 MILES). OIL CHANGE WAS PERFORMED, WHICH DID NOT REMEDY THE SITUATION. THE NEXT DEALER THAT THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO IDENTIFIED THAT THE #8 BEARING WAS WORN, WHICH REQUIRED THE ENGINE TO BE REPLACED. FORD WOULD NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY, NOR WOULD THE DEALER OR THE CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER IN MICHIGAN ANSWER ANY OF THE OWNER'S QUESTIONS, EXCEPT THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE ENGINE. OWNER WAS LEFT PURCHASING A NEW ENGINE ON THEIR OWN.*JB

I do not know who is more retarded in the above, Ford or the consumer...

ok i will translate that customer speak for you.

Hi i am retarded.. i bought a new car and drove it without oil changes and without oil .a friend of a friend read a website that said you can go 30k miles on oil changes and i listened.. now i want ford, the dealer and my ex girlfriends cat too pay for my motor. it really was the dipsticks fault , really. millions of others can use a dipstick correctly but me being retarded can't.. BTW i lied on the mileage too make it look good. it really is 27,000 on it's first oil change.

end cust speak translation now.
