Yea, having girls for friends is good at times but usually it is the WORST thing to do bro. It always ends badly tho because one way or another someone will screw things up (literally). Yeah V6 Mustang's are very unexciting (unless we're talking 2011), but if he wants to add one to his garage, does it matter? He already owns a V8 Mustang so it's not like he's trying to be Captain Badass by entering Mustang ownership with a V6 model.
As far as friends that are girls... I gave that up a long time ago. I found it hard to keep it strictly platonic and then would get sick and tired of hearing about their new interests.
I was thinking about this and the trade in price was prolly so low ($500) because they knew they would have a hard time selling a stick shift V6 to it's target demographic; 18-24 year old girls.

It some ways it seems like your friend is the true victum here. Seems like she got a very poor trade value for the car (unless it's high mileage or has rust or other issues).
On the other hand, if she had called and said "I'm buying a new car this afternoon, if you want my Mustang, I need to $$ now", do you have the "cash"? Were you prepared to buy on perhaps very short notice?
