Gonna be alot more than that.

FWIW, the base and clear were $1000 for my car and it probably had 100 hours(with no RUST) in bodywork before it was completed. If you cheap out on paint the rust will just come back and its gonna look like chit.

I'd run from that car. Its enough of a challenge building one with no rust, and all the rust is going to travel to your bank account and eat a hole right thru it.

My estimate was just getting it even safe to drive, not getting it pretty

Ok see now your just being childish, but anyways I went to a few body shops today and they all said 2500-3500 range just for the rust, and I know a good paint job can run u up to 3K but I personally know a guy who said he'll do mines for 1000 but not the bodywork, he says he doesn't have enough experience for the job.

well plan on 4-5g's for starters and have at it. build it the way you want because you are going to have this thing for life or take a severe beaten if you try and sell it. Make a build thread, again have fun

If you're goling balls out on a resto get a 67-9 vert or fastback. For the amount of work/money this will take you could easily resurrect a first gen mustang.

I would any 1st generation, but I wanna take a 4 eye first. The parts for a fox are more accesible to me than a first generation. I did have an oppurtuinty to buy one in high school, but that was before I even had a license, but noe I regret it. But I won't be to bad off my stepdad's buddy says if I ever get tired of it he'll give me a grand and his(don't kill me) honda
