Headin home from work the other day, and my 94 GT decided to now idle at about 3k spontaneously >< This is my first expedition into the world of computer controlled, SFI vehicles, everything else ive ever owned had carbs ;) Im going to change the IAC first, it seems most likely to me. Has anyone else had this happen, and what fixed it for you? thanks in advance

course, was a little quick in my post i imagine ;) 94 GT 5.0, mostly stock ( only had it a week ) CAI in it, but im very much doubting it has anything to do with this. Near as i can tell its down to a vaccum leak, ( checked, couldnt find one ) IAC, or computer ( really hope its nothing with that...) Was just looking for anyone who'd had the same experience, or anyone with a suggestion

Always start by pulling the diagnostic codes out of the ecu. AutoZone or PepBoys will usually do it for free if you don't know how. WalMart usually sells a code scanner for about $20. Search for a post by Jrichker on the site - his sig has a link that tells how to pull the codes with a paper clip and a banana peel MacGyver style (seriously - you won't need a banana peel though).

When something goes totally whacky like your did - there'll almost always be a code that will point you in the right direction.

does it stay there all the time now. i have a 95 and it backfired in the intake and melter the AIC valve open and would idle at 3000 and wouldn't go down. luckily i had a spare one and it fixed it.
