Well today me and my dad and my bro were determined to seek out a new family car...

we went to many dealerships and were dissapointed by everything we saw... all the SUV's were either too much or too little, and thus no replacement was found for the Escape, which is just right.

so we went to Evergreen Ford and decided we wanted to test a Focus SVT... good right?

hehe yes.

let me tell you, i am not too good with a 5/6 speed for the simple reason that i have an auto as a daily driver...
BUT for this test drive the stick seemed like such a good match to me! the dealer guy was amazed at my driving(in the beginning)

then i took it for a harder spin and through the corners this car performed better than anything else i've driven... taking a sharp corner with 4 peeps in the car at 50mph is deadly in a mustang, but this thing took it all the way... again the 6 speed worked really well with me, the clutch was awesome... only thing that sucks is that uphill there is no power until you get close to the redline...

then the dealer was amazed at my driving again ( exact words: "I haven't been on a roller coaster in a long time... This is just like it!" ) hehe yeah...

So the focus svt gets a from me... and one of those might end up in my brother's hands soon

peace out

The SVT Focus right now only has around 20 more HP than the new BASE mazda powered 2.3L. The 6 speed and suspension are nice, and i love the seats but there was rumored to be a turbocharged Mazda powered version producing quite a bit more HP than the current Svt's for 2005. Unfortuantely all the articles I find now say that the SVT is dropped in 2005.

I own a 2002 SVT Focus

I've had my '02 SVT Focus for 2 years and 23k miles. I love it despite the warrenty inspired visits to the dealer. I've had the car out to Portland International Raceway for 2 diffrent high performance/ race driving schools with Cascade Sports Car Club. It performs very well. Even when I threw it off the track at 80mph in turn 10 (I have video). For some damn reason I thought I could keep up with the '04 Viper I also have a modified '85 GT convertable with about 300hp at the wheels, 4 wheel disk brakes, and a full GW suspention package. I feel more confident with the SVT on the back roads. For a daily driver it's perfect. My main complaints are no LSD (in the car) and when you shift it hangs in the RPM's for a second (foot off the gas, clutch in). There are faster compacts out there but I don't think they're as fun to drive espcially for the price.

The SVT Focus is being dropped after 2004. Maybe replaced by the Euro RS (turbo )

Finally ! Ford smells the coffee and brings the RS across the pond. Interesting to see how they price it.
