Okay I ususally don't do things this stupid especially when I'm working on cars, but today was just one of those days where I'm spacing out on everything. Anyway here's the story. I inhereted a beater 95 Crown Vic that needed timing chains and some minor stuff. So I fixed it up and am using it for a DD to put miles on but it shifts like a pig. So I scored a TransGo shift kit on the cheap for an AODE and began the install. I finished all the valve body mods and got under the car to swap out the 2nd and 3rd accumulator springs and I was just off in la la land not paying attention and instead of pulling out the snap ring on the 2nd gear accumulator I pulled out the one on the overdrive servo and out it came. When I saw that steel shaft come out it was basically "Oh ****" there goes fourth.
The good news is that it now runs like a raped ape up through 3rd, but no OD anymore. I've gotta yank the trans out someday to fix the rear main seal anyway so I guess I'll just fix it then. Stupid Me.
