Okay I ususally don't do things this stupid especially when I'm working on cars, but today was just one of those days where I'm spacing out on everything. Anyway here's the story. I inhereted a beater 95 Crown Vic that needed timing chains and some minor stuff. So I fixed it up and am using it for a DD to put miles on but it shifts like a pig. So I scored a TransGo shift kit on the cheap for an AODE and began the install. I finished all the valve body mods and got under the car to swap out the 2nd and 3rd accumulator springs and I was just off in la la land not paying attention and instead of pulling out the snap ring on the 2nd gear accumulator I pulled out the one on the overdrive servo and out it came. When I saw that steel shaft come out it was basically "Oh ****" there goes fourth. The good news is that it now runs like a raped ape up through 3rd, but no OD anymore. I've gotta yank the trans out someday to fix the rear main seal anyway so I guess I'll just fix it then. Stupid Me.

well Im 1000% more of a moron than you because If I would have even tried to replace anything on the AODE minus the shifter handle, the car would be stuck permanently in my garage

Mice one Laser. Yeah I've never been great with automatics and I figured this was a great car to improve my skills because if I kill it, no big deal.

Good news! I called a local trans shop that knows their stuff and the guy said it's possible to get the OD band back in place without tearing the trans down. Woohoo!
