So my friend just bought a very nice 2004 Rx8. When he got the car it was bone stock so then he put a GReddy catback and k&n drop in. He thinks his car will pull 2 lengths at the track. So i was wanting to know what you guys thought about this. My car is an auto and his is a 6 speed. I have 315 bfg's on the rear and i think he has 225s or something like that. so what do you guys think?

You ran a 13.9??? You will beat him! Those cars have about 150 torque. I believe they also run a high 5 low 6 second 0-60.

Get a stall converter if you dont ahve it already and some 4.10's!

They also run a "best" of a 14.50 in the 1/4. With the driver mod and traction. I test drove one a few years back.

i have 4.10s and bearing kit sittin in my room lol just need the extra cash to get them put it.

The RX8's were a real disappointment. I remember the outrage on the RX8 forums shortly after their release about how slow they were lol

Really, go ahead and take your Mustang for a test run. After that, take your friend's RX8 for a test run. After that, return to your car and kiss the steering wheel. Those cars are horribly slow and for some reason love to eat gas.They can handle pretty well and when you drive'em you feel a bit of a kick as the needle makes it's way up the rpm band but overall track performance. Don't even buy anything for your car.

I think he meant you would pull 2 car lengths on him. The RX8 is a slow car. A stock 99-04 stang should kill an RX8. The RX8 is about the same as the 96-98 stangs. Even then a good driver in a 96-98 stang would still win.

i drove the car before he bought it. He bought it from a mutal friend. The car is very fun to drive and handles well it also sounds good with that greddy exhaust but its not my stang lol

Little review of the 2010 RX8.

"Hot off a recent refresh, the RX-8 poses a more aggressive stance than ever before. Distinguishing itself among competitors, the RX-8 features a one-of-a-kind "suicide door" design, roomy backseat and impressive handling. Test drivers, however, report that faults with the RX-8's performance spoil the fun. According to Consumer Guide: "RX-8 delights for its exceptional handling ability and slick-shifting manual transmission. The rotary engine that makes this car unique is its biggest liability, however. It feels underpowered and delivers subpar fuel economy." What's more, the RX-8's rotary engine requires a tremendous amount of upkeep.

The RX-8's four-passenger capacity and unique four-door design are attractive. However, car shoppers should note that anyone but the mechanically inclined will find it a burden to maintain. For instance, because the RX-8 burns a lot of oil, Mazda recommends that drivers check its level every other time they visit the pump -- which will be frequent considering its poor fuel economy. Gear heads, however, will love the fact that the rotary engine doesn't weigh much and is able to generate a high rate of horsepower with little displacement."
