I purchased this yesterday from a local Classic Mustang dealer. I also paid him to replace the floors, rear quarter's and front apron. When he gets the vehicle up on the lift he will contact me and tell me anything else he sees that needs to be replaced... Basically I'm getting a rust free '67 rolling shell from him. I could give two sh1ts about the motor that it comes with, thats not what is going back in when this vehicle is done.

This vehicle is not going to be on the road for a few years, I'm going to college and will probably be putting very little money towards it over those years, just working on it during the summers. I purchased this as a starting point for a long project, I'll be gathering parts and working on it as time and money become available.

nice starting point, I have seen worse. Looks like it has that rare "slant" six engine option.

wow, real nice.. but i can almost 100% tell you that you are going to be doing a lot of work on that cowl. judging by all the floor rust and even the exterior on the cowl is rusted. oh well, looks real nice, tell me, is that engine still connected to everything?

I paid 1k for the car (I know I could have gotten better for less) and 3,700 for the dude to replace the floors, front apron by the battery and two rear quarter panels.

The six is not attached to anything, the tranny and driveline are in teh trunk.

I'm sure the cowl will need some work. I'll ask the dude to look at that, I'm not planning on doing any metal work myself... I dont have the resources to do so.

Boy, you could get a far more complete, never been rusted coupe for less than that. When the floors and cowls are rusted, there is usually rust just about everywhere. JMO, of course....

Sure it isnt a 68, Didnt they only put the "C" stripe decal on 68 models?

WOW!! That is definately a "few years" worth of project. Better get the cowl area checked out really well.

Look at the side scoops. It'd be alot easier to put on a '68 C stripe than to fabricate 67 scoops into a 68 quarter panel.

I wouldn't be laughing. This guy is adding up around $4,700 after rust repair, and that isn't even tackling the cowl rust that is likely there. I've seen 65-68 coupes with a running V8 for less than that.

I happen to know this particular coupe sold for considerably less than the $4700 asking price.

This isn't meant to discourage 5.0 Drop Top, but there is a big world of classic Mustangs out there, and good research will pay off.

DANG

dang now thats my type of car. But seriously does anyone know where i can get one really cheap. Almost everyone in our family has a classic car (but most are chevys TRAITORS!!!!!) so i was wanting to join the club. My aunt barb just got rid of her 81 camaro. My aunt suzy has a mint 72 Impala. Her daughter just baught from her grandad a mint 71 corvette. Ive always wanted to get a classic mustang and restore it.

Research, research, research.

Go do some learning and really find out what is involved in restoring a classic Mustang. By the time you have researched the different aspects of repair and restoration, finding one to work on is a piece of cake. A big hint is to buy the best car you can afford, because fixing up one that is "really cheap" is more expensive in the long run than buying one that doesn't need as much fixing up in the first place.

It's definitely 67 - there's a bar running across the grill. 68 doesn't have this.

There are rust free V-8 powered coupes in good running condition all over the south and west for less. The fastbacks are nuts, but the coupes are reasonable.

Just watch your local ads - in the past two weeks, I have seen 65 and 66 selling for $2k (both running) and 67 shell for $1k in Southern California desert area. I don't know the condition of those cars though.

I was just wondering....I have a 66 and I can tell the differences between the 65-66, I still cant on the 67-68.

Good luck with your project!

One word of advice for long term projects. BAG AND TAG EVERYTHING!!! It is way too easy to lose track of where everything goes when alot of time passes between tear down and rebuild.
