Still waiting to get the car blasted. But having TONS of fun with anti squat and IC theories for the rear suspension I want to build. But I'm still collecting parts while I figure it out. Have my assembled ultra case showing up any day. I can get my PG as soon as I find time to get the stupid thing shipped here.
These are the 10 way strange struts with the coil over conversion with bearings. :2thumbs:
It's gonna have LOTS of Strange parts. Got the rims on the way to bead locking. Bought some 15x12 Street Lites with 3.5 bs. Great looking rims, pain in the ass of a company to deal with though.Ended up just getting them from summit because they refused to drop ship for me. Didn't want to pay shipping to me, then to champion. Once I get them back, tub it to the rail and see if I can get the 13.5 wide slick to fit with the rail, or a notch. Then I found a Currie HD 9in with back brace for 200 if I can run it.Just debating that or the lighter sheetmetal versions out there. He cut it too short. If it works, put on some ends, weld on the back brace, and order the gun drilled 40 spline :chacha:

This is the "new" shortblock. Take it apart and go through it.

Hope to make some picture worthy progress soon. Whadya think so far with the plans ?

Borrowed a dead set of M/T 325/50's for mock up. These are the new rims. 15x12 with 3.5 BS. these would fit with the new suspension and stock tubs, but not with the new slicks. So some surgery to come to fit those. These should make traction on the street semi feasible.

And the 325's compared to the 29.5x13.5
Sickening really. I should be able to keep the seat, with maybe a little clipping to the lower seat frame. But keeping the back seat is still a reality. Although kinda funny, considering I know it will never be used. Just has to look like a street car right ?

The slicks and rims are borrowed as well. Hate to buy all this rubber and it be no good by the time I can use it. Ordering the other rims with different B/Sing once I start cutting up the car and figure the rear end width.

Got some more done today. Easy to work on a Sunday. Only got 2 phone calls ! Figured I'd cut this out now rather than wait. It was pretty greasy and lots of sound deadener and tar. Maybe it'll save me a few bucks in the long run since that stuff it time consuming to blast off. Got the cowl cleaned out. Moving along OK now. Wondering what it'll be like in 2 months. As long as good looking parts keep coming in, maybe I'll be OK.

Love the deep look of the wheels. Nothing I hate more is FWD style wheels on a classic.

I like the look also. The slicks will probably end up being 2 inches less on the backspace because they are like 3in wider, and I want them tucked in farther to get the car down. But those will have bead locks, so that will bring the coolness back up to par. lol

So this showed up today. Stout piece of AL tell you what. It's lighter overall than the nodular case. The 40 spline axle will be lighter than the 35 spline also because of the gun drilling. Overall I think I'll only have an extra 600 in the rear end going this way. Cheaper than deciding to do it later for sure.Way overkill. BUt you all know how it goes. It'll be 25.5 in no time, but I won't have to upgrade this. lol ! I called one guy about some strange stuff, never called me back. Wonder if he'll be sorry with all the strange parts going on this car. Still have axles, housing, back brace, and probably brakes in the rear. Dunno about those thin little things in the back. We'll have to see.

I'm not sure on the 4-bolt conversion with a late model block . . . I have seen them done to the d4s but was under the impression the mains aren't near as big as they were back then.

Oh god no. Not a late model. It's an aftermarket block, just made by Ford.

Haha, no joke man. that was the first thing I thought. I had seen the rest of the thing online. But the size of the axles surprised me.

These are awesome. Instead of just holes for the rear of the control arms to bolt to, I can make smaller adjustments than just .750 or 1in. Loosen, slide 'em up or down a bit. Guess it's a very old NASCAR and circle trick. Some of the circle guys use just sliders. but I wanted these so I knew how much they were moved, and that they were evenly moved.

Ends for the lower control arms. Enough for the arms and the panhard. Same for the toothed pads.

When Rich wasn't looking, I ran out to the car with the Sawz-all.

And of course you can never play with metal and not get bit. Not so bad really, bled like a mother. Piece came falling down, I stepped back, but there was juuust the tiniest piece still holding it on, and it swung around behind me.

No worries though, I had a tetanus a year ago because of this stupid thing. This one sent me in to get seen. Didn't cut me, just hit me hard enough to push through the skin. That one was deep.

Imagine the look on your dads face when he caught you doing something you weren't suppose to be doing. At first the WTF, then instead of angry just kinda laughed at me. Figure why spend good money sand blasting something getting cut off anyways. Not the quarters, but the rest would have taken some time. Especially the inner and out wheel housing undercoating.

Only have the coil overs and rear brakes to buy. Going Strange dbl adj, and think aerospace dual calipers. Not 100 % yet though. Motor is a good size, and the turbo size isn't ridiculous....... "might as well since we're here" are the last words here.

3.5 tubes, 1/4in thick, all chrome moly. VERY impressed with the quality of this housing. Thanks to UPS for the bent lower tab.

Having a well setup rear end and driveshaft must be reassuring when it comes time to launch the car

Yeah, was starting to get a little worried with the mosers and 31 splines. It wasn't a drag radial, so wasn't quite as worried. But I have seen guys go 5.40's with 31 spline and short rear ends.

Hivewax, I even have another. Craziest one. Sux the quality was low, but I hit myself on the side of the thumb with an aluminum auger. Teeth are aggressive and FAR apart. You could see where each tooth scooped out some skin. To make it better, the skin didn't come off. They kind stood up. That was a looker. Still don't have any finger prints there. lol

Got the valves the other day and got the valve job done and got her flowed. Bad news was the head stopped flowing no matter the lift a .750. (who cares ) Good news is it did do 340 cfm @ 700 and 240 @ 650. Cam I'm guess will be over .600, but under .650, as a guess. Need to do some math to figure the mid lift numbers, but so far so good. Testing was on a 4.04 bore and 1 7/8 exhaust tube. Can't wait. Should done some of the larger number fairly easy. Night and day from the old AFR's...by about 100cfm at peak so far.

Nice, that is pretty close to what mine flow, little bit more. I'm at 323 and 235 at .700.
