Well...I was walking through the junkyard this weekend to grab a new fuel cap for one of my other cars. On my way out, I spotted this Mustang that they had for sale there near the entrance. I
t didn't look like much the way they had it displayed. It was absolutely covered in dust. I went to inspect the thing, expecting find countless flaws with it. There was only one dent I could find in the drivers side quarter panel. The car didn't have a spec of rust anywhere. Not in the trunk lid, not on the inside of the doors, not under the car near the gas tank...nothing. Not only that...it had black leather interior in very decent (but of course dirty) shape.
They were asking 1000 dollars for it and they said the transmission on it was toast and that reverse didn't work. I went back to inspect it some more, started the car up, put it in drive and the transmission would slip really bad and then clunk hard in to gear. I checked the transmission fluid on it and it wasn't even touching the dipstick
.
Anyway I went back to the guys at the sales counter and offered 800 dollars for the beast and they took it. As they wrote up the bill of sale I went and got a plate to put on it and some transmission fluid. Toss the tranny fluid in it and the transmission shifts incredibly smooth now. The car drives perfectly. It doesn't wander at all, brakes are in awesome shape, all the glass in it is like new.
Unfortunately it's a 4 cylinder, but for 800 dollars I can't complain, especially since I have a 5.0 donor car and a big stroked windsor waiting to go in to it
Anyway, sorry for all my babbling...I'm just really excited about the new car and here now are the pics!
As for the engine thats going in to this car...It's a 408W '69 block w/AFR 205 cylinder heads (nitrous ported), TFS Box R intake manifold, custom cam, 90mm accufab throttle body, 90mm lightning MAF, FMS aluminum flywheel, spec stage 3 clutch, TKO 600 (.64 OD) and FMS aluminum driveshaft. Hopin to have it out July some time.
