I finally decided to get new seats. I was tired of sliding around on corners and being uncomfortable on long trips. My back always hurt no matter how I had the lumbar. Anyway, I'm not rich so I decided to get Axe black widow leather racing seats off of Ebay. I took a big chance without ever even sitting in them but I am really happy with my decision.

Very nice. Looks like the leather matches the charcoal rear seats pretty well. Please give us a link to the auction and the color choice. Weight?

Looks good!

I've been thinking about some replacements for my stock *Cloth* seats as well.

Tell us about the seats a little more? Fit & Finish? Total price paid? How was the installation? Did they come with a universal mounting bracket, and did it fit your car with no custom fabrication?

Found a bunch on eBay by the same seller when searching for "Axe Racing"...the guy wants $120 for shipping plus $30 for insurance AND California sales tax. Seems a little excessive, but I dunno.

Could you post the link to your original auction, or a link to the seller?

I will look tomorrow for the exact seller but I think it was like importwholesale or something. I got the seats for $390 and thats with shipping. It did take a while for them to get to me but they are a good buy for the money. Actually I had to win two auctions with one seat each.
As far as quality, they are definitely not Sparco or Recaro but I was not looking to spend $1000 per seat either. For me and my budget these seats are really nice. They were definitely lighter than the stockers but I reused the stock mounts and power on the drivers side. That meant that I didn't really shave all that much weight.
The install wasn't that bad. I just bought some pieces of 1 1/4" by 1/4" steel from Home depot and made brackets to match the seats to the original mounts. The drivers side did take quite a bit of shaving metal here and there but nothing too hard. The passengers seat just required drilling a few holes in the bracket to make everything fit.
About the only thing I don't like is that to have the seats flip forward you have to grab two little hooks on the back of the seat. Not like the stockers where there is just that one little lever to slide. I am looking into making some kind of bracket that would pull on both of them at the same time so you don't have to reach around so much to flip the seat.

The seller on ebay is importwholesale1. I noticed there aren't many leather seats on there now but I just waited until he had 2 black seats. Also, when you type in the ebay search just use "leather racing seat", if you type in "seats" then you won't find the stuff he has.

The black seats do match the dark graphite of the mustang pretty well. When they came they were kind of dull but I just used some Meguiars leather wipes and now they look really nice. The seats are also very comfortable, better than the stockers. Even on long trips these are better than the originals and since I reused the power controls you can get a perfect seating position. Size wise, I am 6' 2" about 190 and I fit them just right. I would guess someone up to a 36" waist could fit in these just fine.

They seem to sit lower than stock. Is the driving position lower?

Yes they do sit a little lower. I actually like that though because it gave me a little more headroom. I am actually thinking about raising the passenger seat up a little with a new bracket though, my girlfriend wishes it were a little higher. The drivers seat is fine because with the power adjustment you can get it just right.

I was surprised to hear you were able to reuse the power seat stuff. I assumed that was part of the original seat - learn something new everyday.
The seats and new rims look really nice. The stock seats really leave a lot to be desired. No lateral support at all, and, me being 6'2", I find the stock seat to be too high as well, so the lower position would help. (Love the stangs, but they make you feel as if your riding on them rather than in them)
