1000cc as your first bike? damn...

definitely ditch the ferring and run it naked. Those APC and nofear stickers have to go too (but I'm sure you already know that)

Very nice!!! You didn't get it in (or near) Columbus, Ohio, did you? It looks identical to one that was involved in an unfortunate "event" just down the street from my house. Doesn't look like that one's ever been laid down, though.

Nice

The No Fear stickers are almost as old as the bike I would guess.

Couple vids and couple pics

This one is my buddy Rick looking it over. You can hear that strange rattling noise. His dad said change the oil twice and see it it helps (to clean out the junk) and if thats not it, it may need a valve job. Him and his dad both said me bing new not to worry about it yet cause I won't be beating on it but once I get used to it to get it fixed. It also needs new fork seals.

This one Rick took it for a ride. You can see it lift the front wheel as he passes me

More than likely valves. They are supposed to be checked and set every 10-15k miles on most bikes. I am sure its way past overdue for maint. Its a pain to adjust valves with lash caps in most cases thats why it rarely gets done.

I have a 92 Katana I learned on. I replaced the tires, chain, battery, all fluids. did the valves.

Here is a decent site for you.

Those where a quick bike when they 1st came out and I'll wager it'll still snap your head back. I considered getting a Honda 750 ACE as my 1st bike before wife nixed the idea, we came to a suitable agreement, which was buying the convertible instead.
