from what i understand, they are out altogether. however, i hear they are planning to relaunch soon.

drawback - parts can be a pita to find for these things

I think semigloss black centers would look hot on them. Reason I say this is because if you were to paint/powdercoat the centers gloss back, since the spokes are pretty wide, I think it would cheapen the look of the wheels. These are some sexy wheels dude, I'd hate to see them look like a cheap wheel. I've always loved Simmons wheels as I mentioned above, I cannot wait to see them on the car.

I vote for either leaving them silver, or semigloss black powdercoat.

Or what about charcoal grey centers.......??

EDIT: Here they are on a Grand National in silver...they look HOT! I'd leave 'em silver!!

ive seen that car b4. very hot. dont get me wrong, i love the silver. was just wanting to do something different to give them an even more custom look. as you say tho, one would have to be careful to not cheapen the looks of a very high end wheel. i really think black would look sinister. my current wheels are silver and i actually get compliments of how the wheels color matches the paint color on the car. i suppose i would get the same comments with these? just dont want it to look like i have too much silver....silver car silver wheels. i guess the big freakin lips on these things would help break that up

the other thing that bothers me about the powdercoating is the process. the center section of these wheels has a seal all the way around the diameter. i assume this acts as a gasket for sealing purposes when the wheels are assembled to prevent air leaks. well, no one i have talked to seems to trust these seals anyway. they say to tear it off and use a specific silicone ( the same that CCW uses...can be bought at lowe's ) . the bake process of powdercoating would probably ruin that seal. if it needs to come off anyway, i guess it doesnt matter but it looks in good shape to me.

I would say if your gonna paint or powdercoat the centers, I'd reseal them anyway. I don't know a lot about sealing wheels, but I'd say if they sell the stuff that CCW uses at Lowes I probably wouldn;t hesitate to use that.

As for the color, I think the silver looks amazing and it goes perfect with a silver car. As you said, the polished lips will create a little contrast, and look perfect. If you do decide to do black, I still think matte finish will look the best. What I've noticed with gloss black wheel centers on multi-piece forged wheels is that if they have wide spokes, it makes the wheels looks smaller. Since the spokes on yours are both wide, as well as slightly convex, I'd stay away from the gloss black. Again, your wheels, and I'm sure any way you decide to finish them they will not only look amazing but completely unique. I have never seen these wheels on a Mustang before, so this is gonna be awesome!

i appreciate your input. im going to try and find some wheels that have wide spokes and lip that are black and see if they look smaller. different colors can def show different effects. thats a interesting point. and i may decide to keep these silver. isn't there a saying, 'why mess with a good thing' or something along those lines.

my next concern is tires. i was planning on moving the tires from my FR's to my simmons.....265/35/18s & 295/35/18s. the fronts im not worried about. the rears, well i just want the tires to not look stretched. i think i will be ok as i have looked at several pictures of cars with 18x11s and 295s. it looks good. 315s or 335s would look killer but 1- they are freakin expensive. 2- there are very limited choices 3- that big of a tire will make my car slower than it already is. 4 - i want to avoid clearance issues if possible.

a local friend of mine had a 03 gt with these exact wheels and 295/35/18 kdw's and it looked just fine. the specs on the kdw and my generals are pretty close. the section width on the kdw was like 3/10ths wider i think.

Dude those wheels are f'n sick. I love them and would definitely keep them silver At least try them on the car first before painting. No sense messing with a good thing...

i do like the silver. i still cant make a decision. i see what you are saying about trying them 1st. its just a little harder with these if i end up not liking them silver ( which i think i will ). i'd have to dismount the tires , take out all 36 bolts out of each wheel, then break the silicone bead, then take the centers to have the powdercoated, then reverse all that again. since the wheels are currently disassembled now, heres the time to make my decision

im already tired just thinking about it - lol.

wheels have been dropped off to be powder coated. he is doing one wheel in black and letting me see the results. if i like, black it is for the other 3. if silver looks better, he'll reblast and recoat. this was actually his suggestion since i wasnt 100% sure on what i wanted. super nice guy.

spent over 2.5 hrs this weekend gleaming wheel hardware on a polishing wheel then hitting the heads with some cleaner/brightener. . . . all 144 pieces. i have to say, they look better.

sorry for the delay guys. im just as anxious to see as ya'll are. it took him more than two weeks to just do one wheel. guess he is busy.

anyway, here is one in black. it is not assembled, just laid in place. keep in mind it would look a little better with all the bolts and a centercap. however, i'm not digging it. i dont hate it by any means. i've decided to have that wheel blasted and go silver all of them. its nothing different than they were factory but the scratches will me gone.

he says he will have them done 1st of next week. we shall see.
