I feels realy notchy and grinds a bit in second, also third gear takes a little force to get it to shift. Any ideas?

Did you adjust the stops correctly?

DC... consider the Steeda Triax shifter... I had one on my 99 cobra, and now one on my 03. The stock shifter replacement is the best mod/dollar these cars can get! The stock shifter belongs on a Bluebird school bus, not the Cobra A decently engineered shifter makes all the difference in the world! Nothing like the solid feel... Its a beautiful piece of equipment, too bad it ends up hidden. And, just the right amount of transmission gear meshing sounds to appreciate what's going on below. Its cool!

Had one on my 98 cobra, had a few problems in the beginning. You need to put loc-tite on the stops, because they will back off. It cost me a T-45 on warranty because of that.

I had a PRO 5.0 on my 98 Cobra and was totally impressed. The only thing you need to make sure is, once you get the stops adjusted, put loc-tite on the bolts because they will back off eventually. I had to replace a trans because it blew 5th gear.

I have a Pro 5.0 with an MGW handle & knob. It's been nothing but heaven since day one. Very confidence inspiring shifts every time. Click, click, click.. No missed gears!

I have one in my T-5, is it for your 98? I thoroughly enjoy mine, with the short handle? It does push the boot down, but it is definetly worth it!

shifter

I have a 01 cobra now, this is just my old screen name. How did you all adjust your stops? one full turn? I let my friend drive my car today and he said he likes the feel of the stock shifter over the pro 5.0. Maybe Ill install it again some day but for now the stock is workin good.

No you put the car if I remember correctly, in first gear, then adjust the stop until it just meets the handle and tighten it down!

Then do the same with the bottom bolt in third gear! That is all, i would have to say you got either the wrong part or need to try re-installing it!
