the guy that put the motor in said he was having trouble getting the clutch to engaged after he reconnected the tranny and the motor..

since he was a friend of my brother and dropped the motor in for me for 300 bucks i was like what every i will just have the transmisson shop check that out maybe a pilot bearing or some thing simple

will now they are saying they have the same problem the clutch is not engaging and maybe the flywheel is to large or the tranny is not made for the motor...

so looks like i will be paying for some kind of labor and a still not fixed car... this is really pissing me off

i called mmr and they said the motor should connect up like stock only difference is a 8-bolt flywheel instead of 6-bolt...

i really dont want a new car with car payments and i have put some money into this thing (mmr900 shortblock 3800,sq-trim vortech 3900,k-member.a-arms 650,ect).....

any help would well needed.....

Its prolly one of those deals that you need to take to a performance shop and have them look at it. Mostly likely they will be able to figure it out right away.

Sadly most people don't realize how much money it costs to do a project and end up selling it before its done. They always say once you figure out how much you plan on spending you might as well double it. I hope your tranny is built because depending on how much power you plan on making it will need beefed up too. Also what are you running for a fuel system? I know you have a Cobra setup but it might be time for rails, 60lbers, and a KB BAP if you really want to get your moneys worth.

i know how you feel. i was the same way a year ago. it SUCKS spending all the cash but it will be worth it.

do you have an adjustable clutch cable?

MAKE SURE THE CABLE DIDN'T SLIP OFF THE QUADRANT INSIDE THE CAR!!! we taped mine to make sure it didnt go anywhere.

does the pedal feel normal?

well i am at the point were i am just tring to get the car back on the road its been down since aug. of last year....:( last year

i just want to get the cams properly degreed and break the motor in with a safe tune

i got the cobra fuel tank and pumps in my basement will be getting bap and 60 lb injectors and installing them in april.....

then its off to a smaller pulley for the vortech and a beefer tranny in july

thats the plan anyways but if i have to get under that car and fix the problem myself i'm going to be so pissed

the wife is like just sell the mustang and get a new car its tempting but letting the car go is like getting reid of my dog not easy for me to do

but i am sure if i do give the car up i can get some of my money back selling a mmr900 shortblock with stg2 heads, mph cams and a vortech kit :nonono:

i just put to much money in this thing to walk away hehe

the transmission guy is saying its like the flywheel is setting out to far maybe 1/4 or so and when every thing is bolted up the fork will not move almost like its binding or some thing and the car is in neutral clutch will not engage

so he wants to see the old 6bolt flywheel to see if its the same size as the stock flywheel

i called mmr and they said its a forged stock replacement and every thing should bolt rigth up

it would be nice if its the wrong flywheel but i dont thing thats the problem

i put the heads on the shortblock, oil pan, rear main seal, oil pump, water pump, and once the motor was installed in the car for my by a friend i installed everything else hoses, wiring harrness, vortech, upper intake, pullies, belt, alternator and battery

i then put the tune in the car that cam with the vortech and the car started up and idled fine ....i just let it idle for a few hrs its would die maybe once or twice out of the hrs or two of idleing

i just needs a good tune since the old tune is from tim at mph for the vortech on a stock motor and this motor has heads+cams.

the tranny is a t-45
the clutch is a spec stg1
and the flywheel is stock
i am using the stock cable for the clutch
---------

on the old motor the stock motor i got from mmr
i had a 6-bolt alum flywheel and the spec stg1 clutch it worked fine

on this new motor i had to replace the 6-bolt with a 8-bolt flywheel
so i got the stock flywheel and i reused the spec stg1 clutch

---------

the clutch had about 5-6months on it before the car eat a rod bearing

----------

as for the clutch cable its the stocker

and we also got a new pilot bearing

i am will to try anything at this point i was thinking of just getting a new clutch .....

but i cant see the clutch being the problem as long as the flywheel is the rigth size ( thats 10.5" for the t-45) then the bolt pattern should not have any effect
