So, I was putting on the winter tires yesterday, as the winter season is fast approaching. I noticed that I have fluid leaking out of the sides of the diff housing where it connects with the axel tubes AND fluid leaking from the bottom of the diff cover.

Obviously something isnt right here. I was thinking about doing some rear end work soon anyway, but do I need a new rear end housing? The leaking from the sides of the diff housing has be concearned. I know you can weld the axel tubes to the diff housing, but will that solve the problem?

I have been doing some looking around to try and find a place that sells built 9" rear ends that can fit a 99-04 mustang- but so far no luck!

What are my options here guys???

IF I remember correctly...you have made some recent "fast" 1/4 mile passes??

If so, it is possible thee axle tubes have twisted in the pig area. This is normal/common. Now, if they are bent/twisted a rear end shop should be able to straighted it. This is what my shop did with the 01 axle I have in my notchback. It was bent really bad, they heat up those areas, and inserted a huge straight bar in the housing to check it. They then weld the tubes so they will never twist or leak fluid again. My rear looks great. They have done this to many rear axles I have sent to them.

I would be really, really surprised if it's really leaking from the axle tubes. More than likely it's just the cover and/or pinion seal. If the tubes really are leaking you're SOL on that housing. Time for a build 8.8", 9", or (my fav) IRS

Moser makes a good rear end.

Does moser have a crate rear end for our cars? I didnt see one on their web site.....

I need to upgrade the rear end anyways for the power I am now making (or soon will be making). After that, its time to get the tranny upgraded.
