i have the ability to swap out my typhoon and throw on a GT40 FRPP intake.. i have thumpers, and a the 2021 crane cam.. all the bolt ons and 3.55s.. could i benefit from swapping it out?

i dont think you would gain anything at all. and if there is a gain, its doesnt come close to justifying swapping it over.

and the fact thats its imported doesnt make it perform any worse.

i have heard stories of lots of people that buy the typhoon. take a grinder and clean it up a bit. they say the ports are rough and thats where to cheap labor comes in. they were very happy with the piece and felt the money was well spent.

I would much rather work with the grinder for an hour than spend 200 bucks more just to say you have a name brand piece, that wont perform much different. also nobody is going to care if your intake is from taiwan. all the cheapo crap from the parts story and what not are IMPORTED alot with most everything nowadays.

i would stick with the typhoon. no point in going to gt-40 IMO.

To add the other part of the cheap knock off stuff, You pay the extra money for the name brand stuff because they do all the testing and research to bring us enthusiasts quality parts.. which takes alot of time and money.. then some cheap company (foreign or not) that just wants to make money, Copies it and cant even clean it up after molding the piece. Granted it is cheaper, but thats all it is. IMO

If you owned a business and took time and effort to create something for others that enjoyed your hobby.. then some one comes and copies it, makes it without the same quality, then sells it to all your customers for half the price,,, Sounds pretty chitty.. and you support em.

80 percent of the products in your home and or the components that make that item work are from out of country...keep your wife out of walmart and keep yourself away from your TV before you go ranting on. Professional products is an american owned company...as was the distributor who purchased the product from...where I purchased it from..oh and rest assured Eddelbrock signed off on the design prior to PP creating the replica...I have even heard rumors that the tooling package was sold by Eddy to the professional products product development program.

Who said anything about being a foreign company??? There is plenty of foreign companies that make high quality products. Typhoon is still a knock off part...If you want them buy them, I will buy what I want.

That's the best we can do....I've spent countless dollars over the yrs on my car (some I wanted to and some required) and I do try to make an attempt to purchase american/candian product but this intake fit the 'theme' of my bay best. I selected it based on it's ability to hold it's own on the engine and look it's part under the hood. We shouldn't criticize members for parts they choose..if the option to save a few bucks and still get the performance then let them be.

While there would be no major power gain from the swap, I doubt that any one would argue that the GT-40 is probrably the coolest looking intake still. I would say do it and sell the typhoon.
