Yep broken sway bar. V-6s after 1998 didnt have one though, and i believe that the 94-98 V6 used a 21mm rear bar, and the GT/GTS used a 24mm rear bar. But either way, stock bars can fail, 94-98 cobras are rather notorious for breaking them
Actually you have that backwords, the Gt's GTS's were notorious for breaking them, when looking for a replacement look for the 94 - 98 cobra one's. Also I believe steeda, hotchkis, and eibach make replacements for them now. I broke 2 of them in my old Gt, but my stocker on the cobra is hanging strong, even as hard as I drive her.

The first time in my 95 it broke when I was turning hard, the second time was a speed bump... So to answer your question, really anything where it put's a strain on the bar.
How safe is it not to run a rear sway bar? It seems ok to me so far...I dont drive this car nearly as hard as I did my crx...my stang is still stock and probably will be suspension wise but I might uprgrade to a rear sway bar
I don't use one. I think maybe the P.O. removed it. Looking at getting one now, lol. Especially after reading on that link someone posted in another thread recently.
