With all due respect, as you have made very good tech posts before,WTF kind of advice is that?
Its the advice he should be taking!!!!!!!!!!!!! Check all the vital signs if nothing shows to be wrong than you make a judgement by the data you collect....its common sense.
I completely disagree.
I have left motors sit for quite some time. Here in moisture rich Seattle, with the exception of a HG failure, I have never seen oil-water mix that badly.
Something major is going on there... and he should keep looking until he finds it.
Personally,
I have had a HG failure not show on a compression test (all cylinders were within 5%, and it took an hour to get the test done; cooling down). Coolant loss was too slow to notice.
Still a month later, I ended up with cyl 1 scored badly enough to require a rebuild.
To say 'Ignore it, and it will go away' when working on your own motor is one thing.
To dish out that advice to someone else is completely irresponsible.
just my opinion though...

Order new anyways, If I was u, I would strip it down and clean all that crap out, while its down, put on new hg's and lower intake gaskets, I had this happen to me right after I bought the 86 and it ended up being one of the hg's was bad, not loosing compression, just leaking coolant.
Interesting...Was the HG BLOWN or did it look normal when you took the head off, and it was just 'leaking' or was it just shot to pieces kinda thing??

I didnt completely said "ignore it and it will go away" I was simply just suggesting for him to do more tests! Its just like anything else....when something is wrong you try to figure it out. The first couple pictures look like just percep water that was hung up in the valve covers.....after seeing the spark plugs i KNOW there is something leaking in the combustion chambers....percip in the valve covers or not, there is NO way for it to get into the combustion chamber. Once again i wasnt completely telling him to ignore it.....i was more saying, make sure you have a problem before you fix what isnt brokenseattle is a moisture rich state, but put 105 degree temps on top of 90% humidity and you have oklahoma
Yep, the HG looks like toast...AHEM...Do you all agree with me on the blown head gasket.
that IS what I'm looking at here, due to the fact I painted them, right?
I ordered some MR GASKET ultra seal head gaskets, and fpp-1262R
intake gaskets, which I still need to know: Do those get installed dry, or with sealant?
Thanks, should have them by next wed.
