I have a nasty valve cick. Tried to pull the valve cover, couldn't get it off all the way without disconnecting the AC lines. Couldn't see much the amount i got the cover open,The sound goes away at higher RPM. Heard it could be a plug blowout? never even thought to check t spark plugs. Going to do that tomorrow. I put this video up of the sound, you can hear it clearly but may not be of much help in diagnosis. Thanks in advance.

That sounds a lot like my car just before I blew a plug. I'd definitely remove and retighten all plugs and see if the sound goes away.

Looks like a 4V and thus it shouldn't be prone to the spark plug issue like some PI-headed 2Vs are. Checking the plugs is a good idea but I suspect you're going to find the issue is in the timing chain guide/tensioner area.

Silly question: Does the oil pressure gauge show the engine as having pressure?

Yes, it shows oil pressure, and i read about the plug blow out issue, but all of the plugs are snug, and the car didn't run like it would if a plug blew out and it had a dead cylinder. I'm leaning toward a tensioner problem or something too, i was hoping maybe there was something common to 4v that causes that noise. thanks for the replys. any suggestions on what to try next?
