NBC unveils new KITT Ford Mustang

Apparently, Michael Knight has ditched his trans-am in favor of a mustang for NBC's made for tv movie "Knight Rider."

Personally, I don't know what they were thinking when they designed this mustang. The bodywork and odd dual wings are incredibly gawky. About the only nice thing I can say about it is that the wheels look pretty good. Other than that, it looks like it came from a cereal box.

As a fan of the tv series growing up, i'm a little disappointed to see that the car pays no homage to the original. On the other hand, my expectations for this made for tv movie were incredibly low to begin with, so i guess it doesn't matter much.

Let's just hope this mustang version stays on the small screen and doesn't find its way out onto the streets!

Yuck. That wing is hideous. The wheels are fine and the hood is ok. Can't really see much detail on the front bumper though. Whats up with the side scoops though? Is it just an illusion or do they extend about a foot along the door?

Just looked at those pics on another forum and realized the second picture (found in the link) is a different car than the picture in this thread. At the minimum, different wing, stripes, wheels, quarter windows, and maybe side scoops.

The second version looks fine. It also has a "Knight Rider" license plate. Let's hope its the second version and not the double wing version.

doesn't the second picture just look like a stock GT-500 with flat black stripes? I'm not positive though, i don't know the GT-500 that well.

Here's a better view of the grille and front bumper:

ugh.. equally hideous. looks like someone cut some slits in a piece of cardboard and spraypainted it flat black. maybe that'll be a new DIY mod for all the GT-500 owners out there :rlaugh:

What everyone on all the boards seems to be forgetting, is that this is a special "mode" the car goes into during pursuit. The car does not normally look like that. They have three KR's. This one is in "attack mode". If you remember the original show, the original KITT looked pretty crazy in super pursuit mode, too. This was super pursuit mode KITT

After looking at the pictures, maybe the attack mode KITT makes more sense.

Isn't it amazing how dumb all the prime time TV shows were in the 80's yet how popular they were and still are? I loved how they didn't take themselves too seriously.

Could you imagine shows like Knight Rider, Airwolf, The Dukes of Hazzard, A-Team, and McGuyver around these days on prime time? LOL Those were some REALLY dumb shows but I loved them back in the day when I was a kid.:hail2:

Still beats all the reality garbage shows and the depressing hospital and law shows that have taken over prime time these days. :notnice:

Times have really changed.

And not for the better.

it's definitely is not what i want but this is a tv car designed to draw attention to the show whether good or bad.also they try to wow young kids. young kids like the big spoilers, side scoops, and all the goodies.
