So after yall helping me decide which parts to go with in my other thread i figured id ask a few more questions to get some better advice on. Since i will be getting my gears put in i decided to change all my fluids. Gonna go with Royal Purple everything. (engine coolant, oil, Manual Trans Fluid, and Gear Oil) My ? is how many quarts will i need of the manny fluid and how many quarts for the rear gear install? and by what i have read i should go with the 75w140 right? Thanks

not sure what the numbers are for each?? your manual will def tell you and use the numbers listed there for each section don't listen to what anyone else say either on here on at a 'shop' go by the manual..

Royal purple everything huh?? Seems somebody wasting money on "marketing" not needed..... for example best motor oil for you car is Ford Motorcraft semi- synthetic 10w30, you can pick that up at Walmart for less then $3 a qrt. Don't believe the hype especially for a daily driver street car.

I personally like RP. It's a tad over 3 qts in the tranny and about 2 qts in the rear. I still ad 1 bottle of Ford friction modifier with RP in the rear.

tommyroc....it's 5-20 in the engine, not 10-30

Why have the forums if you don't plan on listening to anyone ''on here''? After a thread is started and people get to responding to questions the BS usually gets weeded out.

Just to bail out the other guy... You are going to make more HP with for argument sake, a 5/20w than a 10/30w. Thinner the oil, less friction. Once oil pressure is set, no engine cares what lube is in it.. You gonna argue wit BS is prove me wrong is prove that guy wrong is gonna beat you down the 1320 if not a telephone length is mess wit my oil weight.. Now don't begin to is WOT 4

I've used straight 50w racing and 5w30 is a 50/50 mix is you gonna tell me oil is going to ruin an engine is I've been doing dis for over 30 years working on all sorts of engines is the BS walks is stop ear. :SNSign:

I have no idea what you just said, but the variable cam timing in the 3 valve cars relies on the correct oil viscosity to work properly.

ding ding ding correct!! since my knowledge was apparently now not valid i waited on someone else to say it.. for a race motor sure 'racing' oil is fine, for our variable... very picky 3v valve train it needs what is called for.. a built engine not so much just whatever works best.

That's correct about the VCT. It's designed with oil viscosity in mind, but some guys do run slightly different viscosity and report no problems.
