Need Advice on 03 GT turbo or procharger

strrt and a little strip

i am looking to go with either turbo or supercharger eventually just not quite there yet looking for some good mods to get small gains or big out of and also a good exhaust it is pretty basic right know 5 speed
 
K, you have started out with the most common mods so far, Consider a handheld tuner, it can help the most in getting power out of what you have/will do and in the future when forced induction is a reality you will have the tool for tuning

how about exhaust the dreaded question lol x or h and how about the 70 mm tb by bbk right now i have just the factory h and flows 40 series
 
If you're going forced induction, you may find better performance gains going with the setup that best fits your desired application. The turbos are nice, but depending on where you live, they may not be smog legal for the street (like California). Depending on the Procharger model you're going for, the same issue may apply. Some states are starting to adopt the California CARB (Air Resources Board) standards, but if you're not in one of those, then the sky is the limit.

Under Forced Induction, the X-pipe flows more smoothly and will provide less of a bottleneck in your setup. With all of that extra power, you might start to think about how your car will handle it, like a higher/heavier duty clutch, or some suspension pieces to better transfer that to the ground, like rear lower control arms. The tuner will be a nice addition, but make sure to get the one that your tuner prefers, which will most likely be an SCT Xcal 3.

Depending on which power adder you take, most turbo setups are pretty full packages containing a bunch of supporting mods that help in other ways, like a K-Member, fuel system parts (bigger pump/boostapump, fuel injectors), coil-overs, etc... so check out which kit you're potentially interested in and see what it contains.
 
Good post Slayr, I love to see reason and logic.

The problem with turbo applications is that you basically have to build your own, as a Hellion kit is like 5 grand.

I'd love to build a turbo 281, but I don't know enough about them to do that.

well i am wanting to know the most cost effective but yet power adder and kind of the direction i should go first for example start on the bottom end and do forged pistons and crank port polish heads and then add a supergharger or turbo or start with the torbo or supercharger and then engine work or just skip turbo and super charger and just use the bottle with engine work becasue this is the first mustang i have owned i have been a camaro man until i drove one

Honestly, this stuff adds up. When I was younger, I wondered how somebody could spend 10-20k on just making 500-600hp, and it's something we see more and more.
I could go on about the shortblock, but since you suggested it, I'm certain you know the advantages of having one. The other reason why it's important to decide on your power adder would to have your compression figured out. Lower compression setups (~8.5:1) are better matches for turbos and positive displacement blowers (Kenne Bell/Whipple/Eaton), where the 9:1 is better for a centrifugal. Answering that pretty much chooses what your pistons would be dished to, and trying to keep your car still on pump gas.

There are plenty of people who have supercharged their cars with stock engine internals. The downside is that they're somewhat limited in their ability to further upgrade their hp levels without having to go through all of this. I've seen people over 450rwhp on stock internals (hell, we had a PI-swapped 96gt go past 515rwhp), but the term you'll hear is "borrowed time"... you will survive, and it's all largely dependent on how you drive, how often, how hard, your tune, etc... but if you were at my shop, I wouldn't feel confident letting you roll out with a stock block pushed much farther than 400rwhp.

Once you've got your shortblock, the sky is the limit... almost. That is dependent on another mess of things, the capabilities of your fuel setup, your cooling, your clutch/transmission, etc...

With that said, about how much are looking to get out of your setup?
