Need advice on installing a crank shaft repair sleeve

I replaced my clutch a while back, and did the rear main seal at the same time. The seal of course promptly started leaking, so now I have the repair sleeve to put on the crankshaft. I would prefer to only do this once. So if you have done this before, let me know what you did to get it on right. The sleeve itself is a flimsy aluminum sleeve.
Did you use any sealants between the sleeve and the crankshaft, or did you simply slide it on.
Also when you installed the new seal, did you lubricate it in any way, or simply knock it in. I have cleaned all around where the seal sits, but haven't done anything else.
I really want to get this right the second time around so let me know of any tips or tricks you may have.

Usually when you change your clutch every one tells you to change the RMS while you're there. Mine wasn't leaking but I went ahead and changed it anyway. Then it started leaking - not much - barely a drop on the garage floor. Apparently this happens a lot. If it ain't leaking - don't touch it. Anyway, if it leaks you can solve the problem by putting on a sleeve on the rear of the crank. It usually leaks if the old seal has worn a groove in the crank, or if you scratch the crank taking off the old seal. The sleeve is a thin aluminum band, about 1.5" in depth and slides over the end of the crank where the seal sits. I need to know if I have to put sealant on first or just put it on, and same with the seal - do you put any silicone on it or whatever, or just knock it on????

I have never put a repair sleeve on the rear but on the front ones, I just take a block of wood, hold it square against the sleeve and tap it with a hammer to drive it on.

I can't help you with the sleeve install but here is some other info....

Clean the area really good, then put a thin film of oil on the crank and on the edge of the seal that goes against the crank (this keeps the new seal from tearing), put a thin film of Permatex all around the outside edge of the seal and tap it in to place and make sure it is flat, then use your finger to smooth out the Permatex around the seal.....no leaks.
