I have a 2001 Mustang GT. It has a 2000 GT motor, Saleen Racecraft suspension, and Eaton 90 supercharger, a few other things. unfortunately it has stock injectors. wen i first bought the car it wasnt tuned properly for the blower. after getting it tuned i found out the intercooler pump needed to be replaced. i was told by a mechanic the car can still be driven. while driving i noticed a cloud of white smoke behind me, i pulled over to find antifreeze pissin all over my motor.
i think i blew the head gasket, from the supercharger heating up too much from the stock injectors and the intercooler pump. wen i fix it im goin all out, patriot stage 3 heads new valve springs n cams etc. but i need to make sure the motor is good. after all this wen i started the car there was no ticks or knocks and it had a normal idle. wen i reved up close to the redline a very small drop of oil came out of the exhaust pipes. joe at mustng magic said its possible that i could have cracked a piston, but i was told the car has forged internals. what do i have to do to check to see if the motor is still good before droppin $4000 in upgrades and repairs?

who did the work before you got the car and did the previous owner have documentation of all that work. also, i would be paying a visit to the mechanic that told you that you could still drive you car. i would start with a compression test and go from there, maybe check it out with a stethiscope, smoke test, ect.

I would do a compression test also before doing anything else. There is a t for the heater hoses right over the passenger side valve cover by the firewall that I had break on me once at full throttle at the top of third gear, my car got all nice and squirly with a big white cloud behind me. I could have sworn that I blew the head gasket but after letting it sit for a day in anger I went out to work on it and found the bad t. It just disenigrated. When I tried to pull it out of the other hoses it would just crumble. What side of the motor was the water leaking from?

I would bet that you detonated the hell out of that engine and its done for. That much heat + no where near enough fuel = detonation. Since you blew a head gasket that would be all the evidence you need to know that you detonated. The amount of heat and pressure it takes to blow a head gasket is far past normal range for your set up.

heres the problem this was a california GT a place called Chicane sport tunning did all the work. they wont tell me ne thing bout the car unless i have the original owner ( guy who brought them the car) give concent. iunno im prob gonna get it pressure tested then have them do a borascope. if its fixable ima go patriot stage 3 heads w/ cams n new valve springs, re-do the entire fuel system, n just to b sure ill get a new intercooler pump from saleen. u think i should replace ne thing else to prevent this from happening again

it was leaking for the passenger side head gasket, maybe ill get lucky and it will the t for the heater hose, but worst case scenario i blew a piston. i can still use the supercharger, hopefully but this time i want to get a stronger block, that charger was puttin up almost 11lbs boost, how would u go about buyin another engine, crate or start wit the block n build it from there? im workin with kind of a tight budget but would like to get a 4 valve motor this time

Your stock block is good for more than 1000 hp. If your internals are ok (and really forged) and it was just a head gasket then you dont need to worry about any of your internals or block. It sucks that chicane wont tell you about the modifications they did to it but if they are willing to build it wothout getting big enough injectors then maybe you shouldnt deal with them anymore. I have had good luck with them on a couple of occaisions. The only reason your car had problems is the fact that they used stock injectors. Any engine will blow up no matter how strong you build it if it isnt tuned right, aka not enough fuel, and there is no way stock injectors would supply enough fuel for a supercharged engine. JMS chip and performance center has good deals on injectors/mass air meter/tune packages, google them. They are who I got my stuff from and the tune was pretty good. I did get a custom dyno tune later and got 25 more hp but the tune I got from them was nice and safe.
