Ok I am in the process of changing the tranny fluid in my AOD in my truck. I need to know what the hell this thing is. It came out sitting IN the pan. Does it need to go back into the valve body/tranny somewhere or does it just sit in the pan to collect metal shavings and such? Because there was no magnet. So anyone who knows about AODs please help me, I don't want to put the pan back on until I know where this thing goes. Thanks for any help you can provide!

I looked all over and couldn't find a place where it would insert into. But the tranny acted and shifted just fine when this thing must have been bouncing around in the pan.

I will look over it again to see.

not a check ball. they are in the VB and hed have to drop it to get them out. i actually have my VB off of mine right now, went outside and looked and i saw nothing like that in mine. how big is it?

Awww dude that wasn't suppose to come out :nonono: .....Only a matter of time before the tranyyy goes out... :(

.Just messing with you.. That is a plug from the factory. It is for the dipstick hole, when they slide the tube in ans is just left in the pan. From what I was told...

If I remember correctly, it's a plug that was installed into the bottom end of the drain tube that goes into the tranny at the factory. When they stuck the dip stick in, on the assembly line, the plug got push into the pan area. So toss it.
Anyone confirm this?

Oh yes! I have heard of that before. People (like me) pull their pan and find a "plug" in the pan thinking there is something wrong when it's only the assembly plug they put in at the factory. So, hopefully that's it. Either way, it was sitting in the pan this whole time and the tranny shifted and acted perfectly fine. Thanks alot guys!
