where to go to get computer re-programmed...

My new motor has a 302 firing order cam, and I didn't put the longblock together- so I don't want to switch cams. Plus it's already all in the car and wired up nicely. Does anyone know where I could send my computer to get it programmed to fire the injectors in the 302 firing order instead of the HO firing order? Or could I get a chip burned? I tried switching injector wires 7&4 and 5&3, but it confused the computer because it got the reading from the O2's from the wrong bank. See sig for mods. -------------v

can the injector firing order even be changed by re-programming the computer?

Well it's more than the computer that controls the firing order. You will have to change the wires on the distributor around for the non-HO order. As far as the fuel injectors go... i would think that you need the chip burned for that wich will cost you a crap load more than a cam will. So go get a HO roller cam and save yourself a headache.

that's what i've decided on-- i'm just not looking forward to breaking the motor in since it's a hydraulic flat tappet

it wont be to hard. Just get a roller cam in the HO firing order and some roller lifters maybe some roller rockers while you're at it. Although I'm pretty sure there are HO flat tappet cams if you want to go that route.

MustangsPlus put EFI on a 289. I don't see why you can't do the same with the 302. Did you change the order of the spark plug wires (or at distributor)along with the injectors wiring?

Interesting thread about roller conversion from the classic forum. They estimated it cost about $600.
