Need header advice

I'm trying to pick some of the components of my exhaust, and need some advice. My car sits plenty low and I have a severe dislike for headers that hang down. I'd like to use tri-y headers, but would like to hear from someone who's used them on a lowered car. My next choice is shorty headers, but I don't know who makes a set for early stangs or if they are worth the hassle and expense. My next choice is early-style hi-po manifolds if neither of the above work. Any advice?

i have FPA long tube headers on my 69. they dont hang down any lower than my stock oil pan. they are a bit pricey. they do just like they are advertised.they fit great, look great, and most of all they dont hang down low. :nice:

I have the shelby tri-y's and they rarely touch the ground, the mufflers are a different story
Thanks, that's what I was looking to hear. I know that full-collector, four into one headers may not hang any lower than the pan (which is plenty low by itself) but the collector is BEHIND the wheels and after speed bumps they drag on dropped cars. I'd hoped that tri-y's with their smaller collectors could tuck up a bit more. Now for another question, just how low is your car? It's kinda tough to tell from the pic in your avatar. Thanks again!

You don't have to use the flat collector that uses the three bolts. Flow Master sells a "ball & socket" collector that does not hang down at all because it only has a two bolt ear.
