Need help bad... Thumper... Someone

hllonwhls, right now I'm grinding the bolts down. It's taking some time but, I'm shaving 1/8" off. Didn't think about going to the hardware store. probably could have saved myself some time. If I don't like what I see when I'm done I'll head to the store. Thanks for the reply.....

LOL... why do they call it a "flex Plate" it sure wont "Flex" or the starter will kill its self!! all your doing 79 is clearencing the nuts to the trans shield... and that is cool!! But WHY "flex plate" ?? why drive on the park way and park on the drive way.....?? why is rice slow?? and chevy sux?? why why why ?? LOL your getting there !! take a road trip up to Jax and well have those few beers YOU siad a year ago when you started this " prodject" cool??? LOL

hllon4whls, yep, went to the hardware store today. Sure enough, this old guy worked on cars his whole life also. I took one of the bolts for the stall converter. He showed me they have a locker at the end. I explained my situation and he went right to drawer and pulled out 4 nuts with lockers on the end and said, "this is what you need". There not exactly an 1/8" smaller in height but it should give me the clearance I need.......
Thumper, Hell ya....... I'll be making that trip to J...ville. Drink a few brews and have some fun. My G/F has been driving me crazy to get this car done, and out of the carport, so she can finish painting. First she has to paint the car though... LOL. I took 1/2 a day off today and I think the engine should be going in tomorrow for sure. Be Cool..... Thanks for all your help

It won't work.....
After trying everything I can think of, it just won't work. The studs on the stall converter would need to be 3/4" longer. And the pilot that goes into the crank needs to be concidered also. Andre at Edge Racing said that I could exchange the one I have but, I've already put about a qt. on tranny fluid in the converter. I e-mailed him to see if he would still exchange it. Probably won't know till monday now. I may end up just learning an expensive lesson. Ah well, life goes on.....
