Need help from some 66 stang owners

I'm replacing the front suspension on my 66, 289. The shock towers have sagged over the years, (I pulled out about 1/2" of shims from each side. I'm trying to install my monte carlo bar to try to get them back in the right place. My old man thinks that maybe the monte carlo bar is too long, I think the towers need to be moved out about 1/2" each. Can some guys take a measurement of either their monte carlo bar, where the bolt holes are to the inner fenders, or a measurement from the centerline of each front shock left to right, so I can see how far I'm off. Great, Yes I realize they will vary, but I'm looking for a ballpark figure, just to make sure I didn't get a reject monte carlo bar or something. Thanks for the fast replies, I'd like a few more if you guys are out there. Thanks again.
