wow that is a lot of shine spray on the engine. doesnt look too bad. have you looked at it? is the door hinge pin broken or is the hinge itself separating from the body? how does it run? In the end I would say it is up to you. post some pics of the ranger so we have an idea of how much tlc is needed.

car looks decent. It appears to have been repainted. Not a great job but presentable. Clean inside. Clean engine bay. Needs some TLC but what fox dosent I say go drive it and if you like it do it.

that doesn't look too bad at all. Of course I'm on my phone right now so the pics aren't that big. What's the resale value of your ranger?

Even swap?

DO you need the ranger?

Hard to judge the car from the pics. I'd have to see underneather and deeper into the engine back like the inner fender behind the struts and so on.

The 5.0 needs TLC, but if you are looking for a project car i might consider. If the ranger is your DD and you are looking at this for your DD, i wouldn't do it IMHO.

I agree with him too.

Other then that if you are looking for a project it might be good. I personally like the color, but it does look like it could use some body work based on the pics.

Do a carfax or car detective on it before you make a decision. It all depends on what you can live with.

10mpg? I dont think so. I think you guys are overrating this truck. Probably rated at 22/27 mpg at most. not much different that my mustang. Actually my 88 notch 5spd bone stock gets 25 on average for the past month. Plus the truck has the aerodynamics of a brick wall on the freeway. You are asking 4k for your truck but what price are you willing to take when someone comes to haggle with you?

I think it is too hard to tell with just looking at pics. any rust? shock towers or under carriage? torque boxes? Maybe ask for some $$$ with the trade. Trade and he gives you $500-$1000 or something.

either way good luck. I still think it is better to have a mustang than a ranger but then again I would lover to put a 5.0 in a ranger LOL.

Unprotected photobucket account. Look through his pictures and see if you'd buy a car from him. There's a whole lot of pictures of Civics in there.

NO. take it from someone who has jumped on every "deal" he thought it found. youll regret it. keep looking. you can find something cleaner then that for that price. sell ranger..then buy something nice and look around.

I wouldn't let the speed density thing scare you it's not a factor until your ready for a big cam otherwise they were faster stock verse stock against the later maf foxes (89-93).

Anyways im on board with the rest of the guys though, i'd consider what purpose or goals you would have for the car then go over the car real well.. let it get to operating tempature, drive it for a little bit, let it idle for a while, drive it some more. Pay attention to how the trans shifts and listen for any noises from the trans or rear end. Check out the torque boxes for damage or cracks as well as the floor pans. Check the common spots for rust or in this case since it's a repaint some bubbling like under the hatch, by the back tires or front wheel wells and check for stress cracks on the roof which would show signs of body flex.

Door handle and hinge is a common problem with these cars as they get older and older and can be solved cheaply in most cases. Just remember parts for these cars are everywhere and anywhere and aren't too expensive it just all comes down to what I said earlier, what's your goal for the car? weekend warrior, a project, daily driver or all of the above lol
