I am buying all of my body stuff TODAY..........finally! Design Concepts is a bit less expensive and even uses the same part numbers as Cervini's. What's the deal? Anyone have experience with these or other companies that are very good quality. I will buy Cervini's if that's what needs to happen but if I can save some dough that's a good thing too.

This has been a common question over the last several weeks. There are a few people who say DC = junk, BUT there are MANY people who say that DC = Quality!. There have also been a lot of people who have said that DC is acutally a company owned by Cervinis, so it's actually the same parts.

My suggestion is to call DC and ask them about their relationship with Cervinis. Get the info first hand, then let us know what you find out!

I am on hold with them right now....we'll see what they say. How about any of the other companies out there. I need a Saleen style wing, ground effects kit and a 2.5 - 3" cowl hood for my 86 Hatch.

Here's a pic of my design concepts 3" cowl hood: (or was it 2.5" .. damn i forget already) by the way it fit pretty good and the top surface didnt need anything but a light sand job and paint. The only thing is the underside is not finished .. still a good hood for the price IMO.

Well I just got off the phone with Ron at DC. He was very helpfull. He said they are not the same company but have many of the same suppliers. At any rate I have read nothing but good stuff about their wings and hoods. My hood will run 289, my wing 145, and my saleen sides and rear go for 145 and 180 respectfully so thats a total of 760 or so. The same stuff from cervini's would run 974 including their 10% discount deal. Neither include shipping. Does anyone have or have pics of the Design Concepts Saleen sides and rear?

whats the backside of your hood look like? like from the drivers seat? is it already cut? vented? drilled?

ohh yea shouldv'e mentioned that too. there are two indented ovals in the cowl area that you have to cut out... I still have yet to do so, so mine isnt vented still... .. just havent had time lately.. i shouldve did it before it got painted.

did it come with vents or anything to go in the holes after they are cut out? what are you going to use if it didnt?

no it didnt come with anything... I was just gonna cut the hole and leave it like that.. i dont think rain or anything will get in there.. I might put some wire mesh in there to keep leaves and stuff outta there. I through together a quick sketch of what it looks like from the drivers view.. bare with it I didnt take much time on it but it gives you a general idea.

For the Hood I'd go Cervinis. I have their Stormin Normin 2.5 cowl and it's fully worked over and finished off very nicely, under side and everything! Beautiful opening in front and very clean professional vents in back! Awesome!

Thanks for the drawing it tells me exactly what i needed to know. BTW how is the visibility out of the car with that big ol' hodd now?

thompsonsd: i would go with cervini's if they finished the underside of the 86 hoods but they dont so the only diff for my application is the fact that the vents are or arent cut out.

I read every thread that came up about Design Concepts during a search. I just wish I could see pics of their ground effects on a car

No problem. Well its not that big of a hood but the visiblity is not effected that much IMO, its not much different than driving with the stock hood except you cant see the front right side of the ground right in front of you as much. But I wouldnt worry about not being able to see with that hood, maybe if it was 4+ inches cowl, than It would start to concern me.

Well here's a twist for you all. I just bought the Cervini's stuff ......all of it. Why the sudden change of heart. Well after findinf out that neither company makes a front saleen style for my car (which I kinda already knew) all I need was a hood, wing, side skirts, and rear valence. Since Cervinis policy is 10 % off anything over like 150 except body "kits" he gave me 10% off every thing so it came to 932.40. But heres the kicker the shipping from cervinis was only 80 bucks, from Design Concepts it was 130 and they wouldn't ship to any other addy than my credit card billing addy. So since I am going to Destin Fla on vacation for a week I really needed it all shipped to my business. So when it all boils down I paid 32 bucks more for Cervini's, got it shipped where i wanted it, and the hood comes already cut and screened. I am pleased. thanks for all your help. The only thing is my sides and rear valence were backordered by one week but who cares I am not going to be here for a week anyway

I have a DC hood, and i'm very happy with it. But i also have a cervini stalker front bumper, and i'm very happy with that too! I think you'll be very happy with either one. Both good choices.

Well I got all of my stuff this Monday and it looks great especially the hood! I am really glad I got the Cervini's hood. The other stuff I could have gone either way on. But just for reference none of the urethane parts have cervini's name on them only the part number and a description.

I have a cobra R hood i got it from bossincstyle.com and was really happy with the material of the hood, special coating they put on it. Body shop had to do alittle bit of extra work but came out great. A also have a saleen wing from design concepts that came out awesome really good company. Check it out here:

Saleen wing came out good too:

i ordered a hood from DC Cobra R hood for my 92, and its in the paint shop right now getting painted and such, looked to me to be pretty sweet. the only thing is yah i noticed those two areas for vents need to be cut out how do u go about doing that without F***king the whole hood up, i might not cut it cuz i dont wanna ruin the hood, maybe i could tell the body shop to cut them out but i dont really wanna get charged anymore im already paying $240 to paint both sides and stuff. ANY IDEAS
