ok heres my problem, after my car gets warmed up it runs fine but if you shut it off and start it right back up it runs like crap sounds like its not running on all 8. if you let it sit for a few minutes it runs fine. i have a 650 speed demon on it and a crane cams ignition box and street/race dizzy. the dizzy has vacuum advance on it. i took it off because the the car was stumbling off idle and seemed bogged down. it runs better now with it off. base timing is set at 14 degrees. got spark. It just started doing it after i turned the vacuum advance off. IM at a loss at this point and getting pissed off. if you guys have any ideas let me know. Or look for it in the classifed section soon if i cant get it fixed.:uzi:

Thanks, Dan

For your first issue, start by looking for any foreign material blocking the needle from seating, or the float sticking and letting fuel to continue to run out of the bowl. To me, it sounds as though it's getting too much fuel and fouling out on startup. Either that, or a choke issue (I'm honestly not familiar with the Speed Demon carbs, so I really can't help much there).

You need the ignition advance, which may also play a role in why it is stumbling. The higher the RPM goes, the more advance you need, so you can get the mixture ignited soon enough during the compression stroke. The EFI guys fairly regularly will comment that they notice the timing jump significantly after putting the spout back in when setting the base timing. If you're going to run locked out timing, it would probably run better with the timing set somewhere around 20° BTDC.
