Need Help quick oil leak?

I can see oil drippin from the oil pan, and close to the manifold. What can I do about this? I have never had any problems with oil leakin and then I switched over to synthetic oil with the fram filter. I know fram is crap but that's all that was available at the time. Any suggestions, ideas, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I don't know much about your car, but I had a minor oil leak about 3 months ago which was a b#$@ to find. The leak was only present after driving the car and leaving it sitting overnight. I have TF heads and since they're aluminum, all I needed to do is retorque them.

If you have aluminum heads, it's a good practice about every 6 months or 20,000 miles to retorque both heads and headers. Can you give us a little more information about the leak itself, eg. did the leak appear after you switched to synthetic?

It's hard to put a post up and say "I have an oil leak"...There could be dozens of causes....and drips blow around to look like other places...I will tell you tho that our drain plugs tend to come loose when they get old. Make sure they are tight first.

What I did to find mine was jack it up, put the front on stands, stick a lg cardboard sheet underneath, and blast the h3ll out of it with brake cleaner and cleaned everything off really good....made finding the leak a little easier..

The car is stock and I didn't notice the leak until I switched to synthetic. The leak seems to be coming from the oil pan. Why would the synthetic oil cause this problem? How much longer do I have before I have a real mess on my hands? Thanks again.

Did you check the tightness of the plugs?
Is this possible:
You changed your oil to synthetic, put the drain plugs in a little loose, and the oil is dripping out??
Hmm..Is it dripping because I "changed" the type of oil????

The reason why I asked if it could be the synthetic oil was because I was told that when you switch to a higher grade of oil (synthetic) it has the tendancy to go through seals in your engine. It seemed logical to me that's why I asked. You haven't heard the same? Thanks again.

I know that, but you HAVE TO rule out the obvious causes first...like I said above, there are a few of us that have had problems with leaky drain plugs.

LOL. Yeah I'm over here in England but I had my car ship to over here to be with me. Good ole Uncle sam took care of that for me. I will take it to a lift today and get underneath the car to see exactly where it's coming from. If there is on oil leak coming from somewhere else besides the oil pan, how much time do you think I have before I had a major problem on my hands?

synthetic has a lot more detergents in the additive pack (compared to dino oil). the detergents clean out the sludge in the seals, allowing for oil to seep past.

You may have just become aware of the leak, because you changed the oil recently. That is all I would say about the synthetic issue. If you had ran regular oil, it might have leaked, but much less

Anyway, good luck. They can be a pain. My rear main seal is leaking bad, and I didn't replace it when I did my clutch Very stupid.

If on a higher mileage motor that has been run on regular motor oil then switch to synthetic, leaks often occure. If happened on my 94 with 95k miles, it was the oil pan gasket.
