Ive had this Sony CD player in the car since I bought it (only mod done to the car), and I need to take it up to get to a wire behind it. Apparently I need a special Sony tool to remove it, but its Sunday and all the shops nearby are probably closed. Is thier any other way to get this thing out without damaging it?

There are two tools that come with every aftermarket CD player... They're thin, flat pieces of metal with hooks on the end to grip them by. They slide in on either side, between the deck and the cage and release the tabs that hold the deck in.

They're pretty much universal, so if you have a buddy with an aftermarket deck, you can borrow theirs to get the job done.

I've also used really thin flathead screwdrivers to pop the tabs, and pushed the deck from behind to get it out.

There are two metal tabs on each side in the middle. You have to pry those parts back and you can slide the stereo forward. I've done it. It isn't that hard. Sony didn't come with tools. You had to pry it yourself

try a butter knife and do it one side at a time pulling on the unit alittle while wiggling the knife in there to loosen or get behind the clips to get it out. Once you get both sides out pull it out.

That or you can try and take off the whole outer ring around it?

you may be able to take the trim off and then unistall the radio mount kit with the cd player still in its 'basket' (the metal thing that holds the player you can see on the edges). once that is all out, just bend the tabs on the basket from the back and slide it out
