Need help Searched with no luck 04 GT with 05 rims

I just picked up an 04GT as a DD in the Midwest; a bit crazy I know but hey I went from a Nissan to another mustang so it was a step in the right direction. In doing so, need to make sure she is well equipped to handle whatever is thrown at it and seeing that we have a good three months left of possible snow fall, I don't feel like whiping the car out.



I understand the offset is greater on the 05 rims vs the 04 rims, but can you fit 05 rims on an 04GT in a pinch and would they work even if they may look a bit goofy?


My uncle picked up a set of 05 GT take offs and would sell them to me for 250 which is a good deal and why I am asking if this can be done without spacers...

i almost bought a 2004 gt awhile back with 2005 gt wheels on it and they didnt look right. The wheels stick much further in due to the 05+ mustangs having a different offset.

I may just try them on to see how they work... My uncle is about an hour away from my home and that is why I wanted to ask ahead of time; see if anyone has actually done this.

I just wanted to save some driving time if at all possible. At least the P zero is a M & S tire... some people say they work decent with some weight in the trunk...

I'm not totally sure but I think you'll need at least a 1/4'' spacer all around. I would suggest adding an extra inch to the rear spacer, though. You'll be glad you did.

The 05 17X8 wheels have a +44mm offset. They will sit inward 14mm more than your stock 17X8's which have a +30mm offset. 1/4" spacers will help about 7mm. So your wheels will still be inward 7mm over stock. BTW..the 235-55's that come on those look really dumb on 99-04 Mustangs. I suggest getting some 245's or 255's for those wheels to help make them look better.

I've done it with premium package 07 Bullitts. They look goofy, the fronts WILL NOT clear the calipers without a spacer, and it messes with your steering. Honestly, it's not worth the effort. When you throw 18x8s on our cars, they just look bad from any angle but profile. Not to mention the only spacers you can run up front are the washer-style lug-centrics, which are not safe. While it may be a good deal, I say pass. You can get a set of 04 takeoffs on Ebay for cheap.

On the other side of the argument, they are a smaller footprint tire which is better in the snow, and if you don't care about the look.... But overall, I'd stay away. spacers up front are hack.

thanks, I just needed to know if they would fit or not without spaces, but seeing that they don't I am doing my best to track down some 16 x 7's off off the 94-04 cars.
