Well my uncle just swapped an EFI 5.0 motor into his 65 Galaxie. After doing many upgrades on the car we decided to try to fire the engine. We had spark, fuel and the timing was right but it wouldn't fire. I finally decided to try the non-HO firing order and it fired right up. The problem is the motor was suppose to out of a 91 GT but thats not possible with a flat tappet cam. The car does have mustang valve covers and an HO intake, but someone could have swapped that on.

So how do I indentify what car this came out of? I have the numbers off the block right behind intake but don't have anything to cross reference it with.

Thanks, Johnnie

Yeah thats the decoding for the casting number behind the starter. Does anyone know what the number is behind the intake manifold?

Yes that is the last digits of the car it was originally installed in. Worthless to you. What is the block casting number? There were several roller blocks used in non Mustangs that had flat tappet cams, or it could have been swapped to a flat tappet later in its life.

Well since that number is useless for me I will have my uncle get the block casting number then I will cross reference to see if its a roller block or not.
