need help, vert seatbelt question

i have an 88 convertable, i want to put a new set of front belt retractors in. i changed my interior to the tweed style and the front seats dont have hooks for the belt. my ques. is if i get another set of belts will they retract all the way and sit flush or will there be slak and the belt will hang and get in the way like a worn out retractor.

I changed my interior a while back and the seats were from a coupe. They didnt have the seatbelt catch on the sides of the seat either but I discovered that they did have the metal plate inside right where they catch mounts. If yours are this way, you may be able to buy a set from Ebay and install them. I just saw a set on there earlier this week.

If you replace the seatbelts from another vert, you will have the slack. What keeps them slacked is a small plastic "button" that is placed in the seatbelt material itself about 12-18" from the buckle. If you remove it, it may retract all the way back.
