I need to find a nice hydraulic clutch kit for a 70 Mustang with a 302 and toploader 4spd. What makes are out there and which is the most complete, reliable, and easy to install?
I installed a JMC kit in my friends 69 mustang with a 351W and Toploader 4speed. The kit for the 69 w/ a toploader (which I would imagine is the same as a 70) comes with a hydraulic throw out bearing instead of a slave cylinder. The kit worked fine, however the pedal pressure was much harder than the JMC setup in the my 68, which uses a slave cylinder. I think this maybe caused by an incorrectly sized throw out bearing. Before you order this kit you have to take several measurement of the clutch setup, my friend took these measurement so I am not sure if they are correct. Anyway the install is pretty easy, however with a hydraulic throw out bearing use must fabricate a clutch pedal stop or you will blow out the throw out bearing.
