Hey guys, I am really terrible with electronics.

I got my new AEM wideband A/F gauge mounted and connected to the sensor.

I found a good place to run the ground wire.

I need to find a good place to connect the power wire. It requires a 10 amp circuit. I bought one of those add a circuit kits at the parts store, but there is only one fuse in my box that is 10 amps or less and it only gets power when the headlights are turned on. The rest at 15-30 amps.

Can someone recommend a good clean solution?

Thanks,
Jason

Get an inline fuse holder and splice into one of the switched circuits on the ignition switch. Your instrument won't draw more and 2-3 amps, and probably less than that. As long as you use a high current (20-30 amp) circuit you can splice into it and add a 10 amp inline fuse. Be sure to solder the splice and use heat shrink tubing to cover the spliced area. See http://oldfuelinjection.com/?p=7 for some soldering help and tips.

Better still, use the spare position on the fuse panel by adding another slip on connector to the spare slot. Use a voltmeter to determine which spare is live only when the ignition switch is in the Run position. One side of the spare position should already have the connector, and you crimp a slip on connector to the 16 gauge wire and feed it into the front side of the open spare fuse slot. Make sure the wire is long enough to reach the instrument without splicing on more wire. With the new wire in place, add your 10 amp fuse and you are good to go.
