I am a new owner as of this weekend. My lovely wife's uncle owns a small Ford company in New Mexico. Since he could get me the best deal I went through him. The problem is, I had them install the FR2 pack as well as 18" wheels. (235/50). On my drive back I noticed that the speedometer was 15mph off, the cruise control wasn't working and the engine light was on. I took it back and they could not get their computer to accept the 18'wheels or the 4.10 gears. Also the air mixture to the gas was too high. They tried for over 10 hours in 2 days and could not get it to work. I drove it back to Phoenix to see if one of the larger dealers can fix it. Are they required to fix it or am I going to have to pay. My wife's uncle says it is covered. I love the car but I hate that it isn't working right.
ps. I have been trying to buy the Mustang for over 2 years now and finally could afford it.

If it is just the components of the FRPP performance kit they installed...they warranty it...you should not have to pay anything.
The 18" tire is barely taller than the stock 17" tire. That shouldn't affect a thing. Getting the computer to accept the 4.10 gear is much more important.

if a ford dealership installed it, they SHOULD be responsible. is the 'small' ford company a dealership or someone who specializes in fords, because it sounds like your computer hasnt been programmed correctly for the new parts. an aftermarket tuner will fix your gear problem. i thought i also read somewhere the fr2 pack also came with a cold air intake. if thats the case, you would be running lean if no adjustments are made to the cpu. dont give up yet there is still hope.

the FR2 package is supposed to come with a tuner, but it will only work with that package, no other mods. sounds like to me they didn't load the tuner in the car at all. you should have gotten headers, tuner, oil filter, gears, shifter (5 speed), and CAI in this package.

I bet the tune didn't get uploaded. That would explain the speedo issue and likely the CEL and CC issues as well. The FRPP packs include a tuner with a custom tune, but they are not included in the box. Once you buy the pack, you have to supply the processor code and then the tuner with the corrrect tune gets shipped out from Ford, which could take up to a week for it to show.
