As the title says, I need a little help with my soundsystem. The cd changer isn't wanting to eject or play cds. The door is stuck open and the cd won't come out. Has anyone experienced this before? If you have, what's the solution becides buying an aftermarket? I think it's covered under the warranty, but I'd rather try to fix the prob myself.

any chance you were using burned CD's with labels on em? I have seen the labels get stuck inside before. Unfortunately the units are not very easy to fix. The local Ford dealers send them to a place locally to have them rebuilt, but in my experience your better off going to an aftermarket mp3 head unit. You'll never need a changer again.

The rest of the system can stay- its pretty easy to wire up to the factory amps. One thing, if you do convert to a aftermarket head unit, the output for the amp is 12v, but the mach 460 wants a 5v trigger. Stereo shops "claim" it wont hurt the amp but I dont trust it. I used a simple voltage regulator from radio shack to do the trick and it worked fine. Also, I would highly recommend buying the proper connectors from a shop (to amke it plug+play- no cutiing wires) and dont let them do the install! Car audio shops are HACKS.

are the cds copied? I have seen those get jammed in the newer decks before. Usually we send them out to sound on wheels in portland but if you have radio forks to remove your radio and some small torx bits you can attempt to pull it apart till you can manually pull the cd out it is most likley jammed on its way out of the deck.

I have had this problem before several times, I just get up close a personal with it, look in the with a key, and just bend the jammed disc down just enough to get it to move out on it own. works everytime.

Car audio shops are HACKS.

Hey I used to work for a prominent car stereo shop ya know.. I'm offended.

But yeah, total hacks. When I tried doing something right, I would get yelled at for taking too long. One thing that always bothered me is they would care what the interior looked like (what the customer could see) of course, but didn't care what rat's nest lay under the dash.

After working there, there is no way I would take my car to a shop for stereo work ever. Do it yourself if you can.

Like jeff said, get an MP3 player! You can pick up a cheap one for 125 bucks or so. You can fit close to 100 songs on one CD. And good quality as well.
