Hello everyone! Well here is my dilemma:

This weekend, I am going ahead and buying and installing FRPP 4.10s. I have an automatic transmission BTW. Anyway, I know 4.10s is a lot of gear and I wouldn't have a lot of traction. So the most simple way to cure it would be new tires. Im thinkin along the lines or 275/40-17s. But what is a good brand/model?

Also, with good grip, i heard i might have to step up to 31 spline. Is that true?

Thanks in advance!

4.10 is not too much. good choice. yes, 31 splines are a great upgrade.

for tires: i would suggest either Nitto NT555Rs 275s for the rear or BFg KDWs or KDW2s. you still have the stock wheels??

the NT555R is a drag radial, so make sure if you're getting all 4 tires replaced, you DO NOT put the NT555Rs on all four corners (i.e. up front. drag radials are unsafe on the front). if you want the street radial, its the Nitto NT555. great traction in dry and wet weather.

all right im set on either nt555's or the 555r's, imma read up more about tire life and if it would be ok to get the r's on for everyday driving also.

would it be fine to just get the rear tires with the 555 and keep the stock tires up front?

and what exactly does the spline do? thansk again

my NT555s have lasted 30K+ miles. the 555Rs should last ~20K. 555Rs should be just fine for daily driving. i would keep the stock tires up front if they have plenty of life left in them. if your rears are ok too, you can keep them to put on the front when they need to be replaced.

the 31 spline axle is stonger than the stock 21 or 28 spline (whatever the heck it is stock). you'll be able to launch your car at higher RPMs w/o worrying abour breaking the rear end.
